Green energy, also referred to as renewable or sustainable energy, simply means it's created from a naturally replenished resource such as sunlight, wind, rain without providing a negative affect on the earth.
Traditional forms of energy have contributed to the release of greenhouse gasses, which in turn have been linked to poor air quality and other negative environmental impacts.
goenergy offers opportunities for you to choose a green energy source, and offset in part or whole, your current energy consumption.

Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs):
A renewable energy certificate allows clients to continue purchasing power under their current arrangement (fixed or variable) while separately sourcing the 'environmental benefits' of renewable energy generation.  When a REC is purchased, we ensure that an EcoLogo generation facility assigns the ‘environmental benefit' of each MWh of renewable energy to you.  Once purchased, the ownership of the ‘environmental benefit' or REC is ‘retired' to ensure the reduction cannot be claimed by any other party.

Carbon-Balanced Natural Gas

When you choose carbon-balanced natural gas, you invest in carbon offsets from emission-reducing projects that offset the emissions resulting from your natural gas use.  The supported projects are independently verified to meet the Voluntary Carbon Standard and may include wind power generation, sustainable forestry, landfill gas capture and biofuels.
